Bridge to Terabithia is about a boy named Jesse who meets a girl named Leslie when she moves to his town in rural VA. They become friends and create a magical world they call Terabithia. To get there they cross a creek-bed and when they're there, Jesse feels like a king and like he can do anything, including be an artist, which is what he really wants to do. Then one rainy day, Jesse goes to D.C. with a teacher to visit an art museum. Leslie doesn't know and tries to get to Terabithia on her own, falls into the creek (which is overflowing b/c of recent heavy rains) and drowns. Then Jesse has to deal with Leslie's death.
