Something untouchable, that can be touched, by the goodness and beauty of humanity.

Something indefinable, that can be defined by a person's ability to love and be loved, to forgive and to learn.

Something mysterious, that makes all the simple, obvious things in life, all the more special.

Something utterly pure, that has been corrupted more times throughout history than I would like to count.

Something beautiful, that can somehow find a way to balance even the ugliest parts of human nature.

Something unknown and indescribable, that is the surest part of a human life, because it makes us the humans we are.

Something eternal, perpetual, neverending.

Forever.

(Wow. That turned out sort of...interesting... ^__^)

Think of DNA, that makes us a human, that is physical. The soul, is spiritual DNA with a divine purpose and reason of existence, no 2 souls are alike, just like physical DNA. A soul is the spark of life, from the creator, the connection.

The soul and mind (rationality) separate us from being animals. The soul is given to us by God to create us in His image. A soul is immortal and dwells within us because we are higher animals- Homo Sapiens. It depends in which contest you are asking the question. For Aristotle, the soul was one thing. For Christ was another etc etc

A soul is a giant bubble that is sparkling in rainbow hues and floats within oneself until life ends. This giant bubble absorbs experience, retains memories, and when the new phase of existance begins, it transitions into a rainbow.

It's that little voice in your head (the one not telling you to kill everybody) that points you in one direction and nags you if you go the other way.

It is what is inside you.

The essence that makes you you.

It is the spirit of you.

Even if there is no manifest 'thing' that is actually the soul this is a still a good description of it.

It is the eternal house within man that holds his dreams, his
emotions, his spirit and his personality. It is what lives on after the shell has withered and died. It is the part of him that he passes onto his children so he may continue on after death.
