I think alot of us wish that there were a law to help us get rid of our mother-in-laws! Unfortunately such a law does not exist here. The only thing would be if the Mother-in-law is hitting your daughter, or doing things like stealing from her. Then she could call the police and press charges. It sounds like if her husband isn't going to stand up to his mother, your daughter needs to leave him,get an attorney and get a divorce. Otherwise she will have a miserable life always being second best.

Why not just ignore the mother in law. When she calls, either the boy can talk to her or she can just ignore those calls. If she answers and the boy isn't there, she can just hang up on her. Don't accept any mail from them either. That is a lot easier than filing injuctions against her in laws. If she is really concerned, I know she could apply for a restraining order against the mother in law. I don't know of any law suits she could use. I wish her the best of luck!

Sorry, we don't have dowry laws here in USA. However, you can speak to an attorney to help you tackle the issue of harassment from your mother in law.

It's definitely worth a shot. Can't you set up a consultation with a lawyer to know your rights? That i think would be a step in the right direction.

Don't give in to her demands. Tell her to stop it. If she continues after you tell her to stop and repeatedly deny her demands, you might have grounds for harrassment charges. Keep a record of everything she's doing, when she does it, so you have a case.
