3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Yes, you can detect certain heart problems from blood pressure. High blood pressure will cause heart damage eventually, though. And, high blood pressure can be caused by blockages or narrowings in the kidney arteries. If you have high blood pressure, see your doctor and TAKE THE MEDICINE HE PRESCRIBES.

1) medications. (take BP med and have low BP, then it rebounds to high BP when it wears off) - clonidine is famous for this 2) Over the counter herbs/remedies (ephedra, caffeine) 3) Illicit drugs - 78 year olds in Philly actually do cocaine! 4) Autonomic instability - sensors in the neck measure our blood pressure and adjust our heart rates. As we become older this system may fail. Often presents as fainting spells. 5) Adrenal tumor (1 in a million) - ask primary doc to screen urine. That's off the top of my head.

If your blood pressure is abnormally high or low this can be an indication of problems of varying severity. However, it does not specifically link to one thing or another. You should definitely see your doctor if bp varies signifigantly from normal.
