i'm writing an essay and i've already put "in other words" a a transitional phrase and it's about a sentence away, so i don't want to write it again

The United States was on a campaign for a world founded on righteousness, nobleness, and lore. In other words, America wanted to restore the world back to its greatness from the hostility that was taking place at the time. President Wilson wanted to end WWI with peace without victory.

They mean the same thing. Second is obviously Latin.
Vis a vis (italicized) means, literally face to face in Latin and is used as a comparison.
