right person first before you have kids. Is there such thing as the right person or is she just talking ****?

Well, having children takes a lot of commitment. Ask yourself if you really want to go into it alone. Wouldn't you rather share that experience with someone you love? Just because "he" isn't here now... doesn't mean he'll never come. He will one day. I don't believe in that their is just one person persay but we all come pretty close ocassionally. Just don't rush a good thing. You'll regret not waiting.

There is such a thing as "a" right person for you, but I don't believe in "the" right person. In fact, there could be multiple right people - it just depends who you get along with. Having kids is a shared decision, so maybe when you meet one of the right people and you talk about it, you'll come to a conclusion together. Also, if you are young right now, your mind may change over time. While you are in your twenties, you may decide you don't want to go there, but as you reach the end of your child rearing years, works slows down, you don't spend so much time with family, and your friends are all of taking care of their own kids, you may decide the time is right. I agree with Mom though - first things first. You need a mate with a like mindset before you decide that you want kids together.

I truely believe that there is a "right" person and when you find that someone, you are going to know. I often wondered the same thing and now I've been married for 14 years and and I have a daughter and a son and if it makes a difference I am only 33 years old! I truely DO NOT believe that one can make the decision on whether or not they want children until they are happy in their lives and financially stable.

yes there is such a thing as the right person.... for you.
But don't have kids unless you are very sure you want them, because you can't put them back where they came from if you change your mind!

If you have to ask the question, it's not for you. Children take alot of time and effort. When you truely want children you will know it for sure. The right person will come along and then together you can make that decision. That is one thing you have to be sure of before you make it happen.

Even when you find the right person, you may not want to have children. And there's nothing wrong with that choice. Just make certain, whichever way that you choose, that it's the right choice for you. If and when you do find that certain someone, talk with him as well.
