You're expected to make it in like ten seconds. At least when I worked there u did.

It depends if it's a special one (like added toppings or toppings withheld), then it would probably take about 30 seconds. They usually aren't done before you pay for them because the stores don't want to waste food. When someone pays for an order, it goes through to whoever is making the food and they see exactly what they need to make.
