It's not a problem, as has been said previously, just download Windows messenger live to your laptop. I sometimes am logged in on my desk top, and then when I turn on my laptop, it logs me into messenger automatically and my desk top displays a message to tell me I have logged into messenger on another computer

Yeah you can do that. Just download the new messenger (WIndows Live Messenger) and then just put in your email address and password and you should have all of your friends on your Messenger window.
