It depends on the center.

I think half ( not most ) of the centers run by companies have them. The municipal ones seldom have them. It's from my experience.

In my experience no, however some of the fitness clubs I belonged to in Japan had a sauna and/or a steamroom. I once played in a hockey tournament in a rink that had an onsen next door-that was sweet.

If you go to a place like Tipness you won't find much difference (other than the square footage) from what you would find in the US. Expect whirlpools/hot tubs, but not Hinoki soaking tubs :)

The community gym where I used to go (it was a nice one) had showers only.

same for me also as everyone else's experience. My club has sauna, pool and hot tub. Locker room has showers only.

I go to a gym in Nara and they only have showers. There is a jacuzzi, but only showers in the rest.

Not all of them. Mine didn't (because it had a swimming pool).
