Out of those choices, I'd say Kobe Bryant with Tom Brady a close second. Nobody really likes Zidane after what he did and no one pays attention to volleyball and skiing. Federer and Nadal are popular in tennis but not sports in general. I would also say Dwayne Wade, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter, and Albert Pujols.

Well to be the most popular player...you must reach the most audiences and that limits all exclusive American sports (basically American Football - I am an American, but there is no way that Tom Brady can be the most popular athlete if no one knows the game he plays). Therefore its probably a soccer athlete (soccer [football] being the most popular sport).

I would say there would be a battle between David Beckham (b/c of his publicity - not talent) and Tiger Woods. Its probably:

1)David Beckham (soccer)
2)Tiger Woods (golf)

Close second though.

Oh and if we are throwing in past players, put in these guys:

1)Pele (soccer)
2)Micheal Jordan (basketball)

Depends if youre talking about worldwide popularity of in US, if youre talking about USA, its Kobe Bryan or Brady. If youre talking about worldwide, this is a no brainer: its David Beckham although Ronaldinho(El Maestro) is by far the best footaller in the world. Tiger Woods is also very popular, which is weird since golf is not popular.
