Technically "marriage" is a religious institution and not a civil institution. Therefore, the government should not be regulating it at all, since the writers of our Constitution were believers in strict separation (check out the Treaty of Tripoli). If the Government would like to regulate families it should recognize unions of 2 consenting adults regardless of gender. For your purposes I would say "yes" there should be gay marriages. In fact all marriages should happy!
