There's no doubt that Harley holds it's value better, but let me propose another point. If you plan to keep the bike for a very long time, you may have a real problem finding parts for any Honda over 10 yrs old. Honda and the other Japanese bikes tend to change things on a regular basis, and quit making the older parts. You can still buy almost any part for a 50 yr old Harley! Try doing that for a 1965 Honda!

I don't think this bike is a classic. It's a good bike but outdated. Besides, if it's been sitting around, then that's bad for the bike's mechanical condition. If he's been riding it since '72 then it must have a lotta miles. Either way, it doesn't sound like a good deal. I just sold a 99 Yamaha V-Star 650 in excellent condition for $2200.

Even though I'm a classic Honda fan, I think that's a bit high. The CB450 was more functional unless you want to ride off-road (the low pipes allowed for saddlebags) and the CB/CL 350 was much lighter and almost as powerful. Later models of all had a front disc brake, which I prefer.

Thats way too much. I bought a pretty good one 4 years ago for $500. They only were about $1100 when brand new. Look around you'll be able to find something much newer for a lot less.
Some bike shops won't work on anything over ten years old let alone thirty plus.

I didn't try to look it up. I think that's high. I bought a '74CL360 in almost pristine shape for less than half that almost 20 years ago.
