From what I understand, true red-heads are kinda rare. This is suppose to imply that the child is from an affair.(he doesn't look like the rest of the family.)

It has been a wives tale that redheads are deviants...which is soooooooo not true...and the statement came about as redheads were thought to have worse tempers than others...and the truth is, if anything they are kinder and extremely smart...so the adage really doesn't apply now does it? this actually was put into a test at a university in Michigan...lo and behold the best paper turned in was by a redhead...and sadly the teacher belied the adage but the paper was filled with so much remarkable information it was indisputable...well you asked and i am a blonde and we have things said about us too!!!!!

Step children are usually badly behaved, and red headed kids tend to have a terrible temper. So the two together are horrible.

A stepchild might be singled out for abuse. But a red-headed stepchild (who presumably looks like his or her absent birth-parent) might be abused even more because he or she is so obviously different from the other children.

it fairly is probably to do with the reality that pink hair exchange into seen as inauspicious, and stepchildren have been an undesirable financial burden. actually the guy being overwhelmed is the stereotypical outcast of the family members.

i think red hair is so far off normal don't see it very much, that if you had a stepchild it would be even more strage to have the child with red hair.

i think it has to do with Damien and the Evil son... Damien was redheaded and of course was evil. but that saying is probably cuz the child was acting so bad he needed the Devil beat out of him.

b/c red hair is stereotyped as being kind of off and not as good as their blond, brunette, and black haired people...it's just a way of talking about someone who is lost, left behind, and not as good as the others.

I have never heard that before, but I suppose that the implication is that redheads are temperamental. I have no reason to suppose that the implication is true.
