Japan is technically a part of Asia, but it is made up of a group of small islands.

Japan is not on any continent.
Take a look at your map.

Region: Asia (There is no such thing as Asian Continent to be exact).
Continent: You could roughly say Japan is part of the Eurasia Continent if you can say Cuba is part of the American Continent.

Questions should be more precise if you want better answers.

I don't have a map handy, but I don't think the Japanese islands are connected to any continent. If I'm right about that, Japan is entirely located on a series of islands and not on any continent.

Long long time ago, Japan was connected to the Eurasian continent. Japan is on the Eurasian plate. The Pacific plate is moving to Japan and is getting into under the Eurasian plate along the east sea to Japan.

For those who are flaming this person, there is a good question what continental plate is Japan on...Asia or the Pacific. The Answer is Asia but in 100,000 years that answer may change.

Its in Asia...region is North Asia. It's generally grouped with China, Korea, Nepal and Mongolia.
