They follow political parties, which cannot exist without those issues. Take the illegal immigration issue. Everyone wants it solved whether it be by a wall or by some other means. Why aren't we seeing any real progress on the issue? Both sides need issues like those in order to get elected. If they solved them all we would have no need for political parties and neither party wants that. It is the sole reason so many things get strung out without any real issues being solved. The only issue they can and will always agree on is their own pay increases while the people who supported them wonder what is going on. I think we ned to vote for anyone who doesn't follow a party. This will never happen of course because the two parties have the elections rigged so no other candidate can run. Like it or not I believe we are screwed. Anyone agree or disagree? Let me have it.

Randy D, what are the results of those decisions? All they do is drag the big problems along making it look like they are so busy.

Its your fault! And mine. Special interests on both sides get candidates elected and they are then beholden to their political taskmasters. You're right about them keeping issues alive for politcal fodder, thats how it works. The only change is trivial legislation that really doesn't have any tangible effect on anything. The problem is we love partisan politics, its like rooting for your favorite football team, I love the Vikings so I hate the Packers. We feed on this. It's the Roman Coliseum mentality, entertain the mob with sport and they will not notice the empire crumbling around them. But you are talking about uniting the American people to rise up and change things. That takes way too much time away from American Idol. And I'm guilty of this as well, I see the control of our elected leaders by the special interests, I know this as fact, but hey its football season I can't be disturbed. Apathy the real American value.

The problem with these questions is often there is no answer when there is more than one view on a subject.

It is when the representatives are having trouble making the decisions that the resulting decisions turn out the best possible for all sides under the realistic circumstances.

On the other hand when party's influence pushes to a quick decision, the government makes progress, and the country ends up in wars in multiple counties that we can't win and problems at home that can't be solved because they are being shelved.

I figure 700, or so, miles of fence could be put up inside 8 weeks. But of course that would be coordinated with 350 fence erecting companies, to put up 2 miles each.
I figure that Uncle Sam wil get down to the brass tacks once they get the Razr vs. Blackberry decision made.

If you ever had even a clue as to how many decisions are being made on a daily basis by the very politicians you claim can't make decisions, you'd be embarrassed to death over ever having "asked" this "question". The price of "democracy" and "freedom", as we so eagerly like to tout as the "bedrock" of our country, with freedome of speech, etc., has it's costs, one of which is that programmatic "decisions" aren't arrived at with dictatorial speed. God Bless you.

yes, i agree.

The American heritage was one of individual liberty, personal responsibility and freedom from government … Unfortunately … that heritage has been lost. Americans no longer have the freedom to direct their own lives … Today, it is the government that is free – free to do whatever it wants. There is no subject, no issue, no matter … that is not subject to legislation. – Harry Browne
