well since everyone is different and no family is the same then I guess no one family is necessarily "average" It is all a matter of what you consider to be average. Typical stereotype is one mom one dad one sister and one brothers with a nice dog....

Hi girl _anna!!!
Years before was most of the answers they already gave you. Now in the year 2007, the Average American fa. usually are divorced parents struggling racing 2 or more kids.
I don't really believe what most want us to believe, that is a nice fa. of about 4, living in a Pickett fence house,happily in a suburban area. Married parents, stay at home mom, with a dog, a cat, and one or two cars.
That's more like the "IDEAL" American Fa. but unfortunately, Records show that the are more divorce parents, or single parents, raising kids, who can't NOT afford buying not even the Pickett fence of a house!!!
The cost of living is so high and going up, that the average
fa. here in America, is considered to be living under the poor status!!!!
More drugs, and alcohol problems, teenage pregnancies,domestic violence in the raised, and more and more college graduates, jobless or working in low paying jobs for lack of decent jobs opportunities!!!
Today "The Average American Family" is a broken and dysfunctional one!!!! And I'm NOT proud or happy about it in fact
I found it to be very sad, and shameful!!!
Another one for the nation, and the world in general.

A husband and wife with two kids a dog living in a nice house in the suburbs with two cars and great jobs.

Single mother, working two jobs to support her kids(which are from different fathers) that treat her like s&*( and get into trouble. The father of course is a deadbeat drunk who doesn't pay his child support.
