My boyfriend thinks he is sterile but he does not want to go to the doctor's and take a test beacuse he says that he would be devasted to know that we can have kids. I don't know what to tell him so he can get checked? Is that normal?

I went through this with my husband. We'd been struggling with infertility and the doc wanted him to get a semen analysis done. Husband didn't really want to. He was afraid he'd be sterile and that I would leave him.Once I reassured him that I would love him no matter what he finally agreed to it. I told him that there was a 50/50 chance that he was the cause of the infertility or I was and that we were in it together. The test came back just fine for him. I think it's normal. Guys feel like "less of a man" if they're sterile which is definitely not true.

Just keep encouraging him that test or no test the facts are still the same, so it would be better to know what your up against. He may be concerned about your commitment to him if you discover that he is indeed sterile. You need to decide where your commitment lies and reassure him that you are not going to leave if he is sterile if indeed that is the truth. My husband and I went through this recently because he had Mumps as a child and we were relieved to discover that his count is totally normal, but we would never have known that if we didn't get it done. I had to reassure him that I loved him and would be willing to adopt if there was a problem with him. Be gentle and understand that this is a sensitive issue for him. Good luck.

Why does he think he is sterile?
Is it because you have tried to have a baby and haven't yet conceived?
Some people stress themselves out over it.
Most times, pregnancy happens when you aren't expecting it.

Most men are very self concious about infertility and sterility.
Assure him that a doctors visit is the only way to find out for sure, one way or the other. Maybe both of you should be tested because it's possible you could be infertile.
And in that case, fertility drugs are an option.
If you get tested together, it should make the process easier for him.
I wish you the best of luck.

usually it is the woman that has the issue with getting pregnant.. sterile issues...maybe you should go to the doctor and make sure you are ok and then once you are clear.. talk with him about going.. you did your part and now its time for him to go...a relationship is give and take.. also take him somewhere to where he will feel comfortable.. like in a different city than you live in so he won't recognize anyone. tell him you will make the apt. and go with him

Tell him to go get cheked.. Because if he is and doesn't get checked you still won't be able to have children and besides everything might be fine and if it's not the doctor will give him suggestions on what to do and you may be able to still have children.. but by not going isn't going to give you children if there is something wrong.. tell him stop being stupid and go get checked...

Tell him to stop being a stupid guy and just be a man and face the problem head on. Denial never works.
