Many years ago I auditioned for the Royal Ballet School, aged 10, and got right through down to the final 28 girls and then they chose 26-I was not one of them, and the reason-I didn't have enough flexibility in the hip region and was even told that I would never "make it" as a professional dancer because of this! Well, I went to Elmhust Ballet School instead-worked my *** off for 7 years and then worked professionally as a dancer in Contemporary dance productions, West end theatre, music vids, etc etc for the next 18yrs! I now teach Pilates and am a Personal Trainer-( being a married mum of 2 - dance no longer fits in with life - but I can still do it!!) My point is that with enough determination and hard work you can do it - flexibility takes time to achieve and there's no quick fix just daily practise-do all stretches after class and hold statically for at least 30secs to allow the stretch reflex to relax, then take the stretch just a little further if you can. Increases in flexibility will increase if you do this regularly. You can and will get there - but don't give in, mental attitude is half the battle! I was told I'd never be a dancer because of inflexibilty - yet became one of the top commercial dancers in this country(not my saying but choreographers!) Good luck!

You should try Gymnastics and Yoga, for flexibility and apply for every audition you can. Never let fear stop you from doing anything! If you think you aren't good enough, you never will be! You are not better or worse than any other you are unique! No-one can dance like you. Don't allow any negative thoughts to remain in your head and don't think of what you can't do! Think about what you can do and picture yourself being where you want to be. When you practise Imagine being on that TV show and imagine the audience applauding and cheering you. Picture yourself winning and think how you will feel when you lift the trophy! We are what we think and you have to think I'm not just good, I'm great. You want it so make it happen dont sit and wait for it to happen. Positive thinking at all times. Hope to see you on the program soon!

For your flexiblity, do yoga. I'm a martial artist and i've found that it does wonders for the body. Set your smaller, day by day goals too, not just the final picture you want to paint. Dance, everyday, no matter what you're doing.
Most importantly, believe in yourself and have confidence in your abilities. Acknowledge the fact that you're worried that you're not good enough, but remember and accept the compliments your peers give you. Don't allow one small flaw to corrupt the over all image you have.
Dancers are one of the few groups that suffer for their art. Be appreciative of what you have. Strive and you will fly.

Try Yoga and Gymnastics/acro for flexibility.
Do apply and go to audition for those shows. Thousands of people might aspire, but only 300 out of those may be actually applying, half of them later change their mind, you get my point - apply and see what happens.
