I am thinking of going on the pill because I have really painful cramps during my period. I need to know some of the side effects and see if it really helps with cramps. (i am not sexually active)

SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effects of the oral contraceptives include nausea, headache, breast tenderness, weight gain, irregular bleeding, and mood changes. These side effects often subside after a few months' use. Scanty periods, or breakthrough bleeding may occur, but are often temporary, and neither side effect is worrisome. Women with a history of migraines may notice an increase in migraine frequency. On the other hand, women whose migraines are triggered by fluctuations in their own hormone levels may notice improvement in migraines with oral contraceptive use, because of the more smooth and uniform hormone levels during oral contraceptive use. Uncommonly, OCs may contribute to increased blood pressure, blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. Women who smoke, especially those over 35, and women with certain medical conditions, such as a history of blood clots or breast or endometrial cancer, may be advised against taking OCs, as these conditions can increase the adverse risks of OCs.

I went on the pill Yazmin my hair thinned, my periods were shorter and lighter, i had nausea, i had cramps when i rarely had them before the pill, and when i went off it and got pregnant I had terrible morning sickness, which i never had with my first 2 pregnancies

It gave me horrible leg cramps day and night, but thats all. You can take vitamins for the cramps.
