I'm a 5'1", 140 lbs redhead...I've just recently chopped off a massive amount of hair. My hair was down to my elbows and because of damage done to it I've just cut it to just below chin length. I've always had so many compliments on my hair I felt like it was the ONE thing that made me stand out from the crowd and make me 'feel' pretty. Now with no flowing red locks I need some help to accent my look. I'm a short, curvy redhead with no clue how to accent my figure or do my make up. I have what some friends would call 'Good Childbearing Hips' and a small waist so finding pants that fit my hips but don't fall off of my small waist is a chore. Anyone care to give this gal a little fashion boost?

Concentrate on finding clothes that make your hips slimmer. you'll still look curvy but better? lower rise Boot cut jeans and A-line skirts will help give you this look. and it eliminated the need to find something that fits your waist and only your hips. trust me it is OK very ok, for moms to wear low rise jeans. obviously you dont want your but crack to show like teenage girls always do, but never mind that, find a pair of jeans that don't fall down that low.

keep make up simple, try playing up your different features. it'll become fairly obvious whether or not bright pink lipstick looks good or a mauve color. it seems to me that the key to learning good make up techniques is experimenting.

try to find accessories or classic pieces that help bring your outfit together, help you feel better, and make the style more YOU.

I agree with what Amelia said. I am a year older than you, but not a mom yet. I have a very curvy 5'4" body and I shop mainly at Ann Taylor Loft, chicos, Ann Taylor, on rare occasion banana republic. My absolute favorite jeans are from Chicos. I am not sure what it is with their jeans, but they fit me in all the right spots. My hips are one size larger than my waist and I can never find pants that fit.

Just because your flowing red locks are shorter, doesn't mean you should be a wallflower.

As far as make up goes, I love bobbi brown. she does some great classic looks that aren't super fussy or over done. you can usually get ideas from her website. And ever few months she does these great pallets that have lip color, blush, etc that you can ad to your regular day to day stuff. I would recommend going to the counter and having them do your make-up.

Good Luck!

Try Coldwater Creek. They have boot cut jeans that curve over the hips and fit a smaller waist. They have petites, misses, plus and some talls. And have some very pretty tops and sweaters. I wear their stuff all the time. go to www.coldwatercreek.com and pick the outlet section. Good sales.
For make-up, go to a hair salon and ask for a make-up session. They can teach you anything you need to know about make-up.
Good Luck!

Banana Republic makes a pair of jeans that are really small in the waist but has some extra room for the hips and but. You should stop in there and try some pants on.

Yay! I've got someone with my same problem! Except I've never actually have had kids... I'm still in my teens. But, regardless, i has a small waist, but on the larger side hips. we're around the same height except I'm 101 pounds... well anyways!!! I'd consider going to Bannana republic, Nordstrom, and guess (they have clothes for curvey women) They really really do work. My mom has the same problem as well, she shops at all those places and she looks fabulous! and It's not just because she's my mother!

Uhm... its called EXTREME MAKEOVER, a show on style network...

HAHA just kidding!!

For makeup... I would go to a professional at a department store and have them teach you, as for hair... if you straighten it , it might get longer. Or you could go to a hair salon and ask for different ways to wear it.
