Some test results have to be reviewed by a specialist. Your doctor would call you if life threatening results came back to him.

Unfortunately, that's the way it often is, unless there is something seriously wrong that requires immediate care.
I hate to say this but often they could tell you over the phone how the results turned out, but they want to charge for another office visit.
Though I have a doctor who will sometimes accept a call from me to hear the results, but they do like to go over the results with you personally and explain just what is happening and what you can do about it etc. So at times it's necessary since the results take a while to come back.

Depends on what kind of tests. If they could have been analyzed there then no, but a lot of offices have to send specimens off to be analyzed, so you have to give time for shipping, analyzation which could be a few days depending on how far the lab is backed up, shipping back, and the dr to read the results. I know it's killing you, I've been there. But there's nothing the dr can do.

If nothing abnormal is apparent it is not unusual to wait till your next appointment. If something is urgent the Dr. will call you. Usually get any test results in 2-3 days, depending on test.

It sounds like they were just routine tests. Two weeks is an acceptable time frame for routine tests. If it was anything urgent I'm sure they would contact you. The fact that they are willing to wait two weeks should make you feel better. It's those unexpected phone calls asking you to come in right away that should make you worry.

Yes, b/c it takes time for the results to come back. It also depends if they can run the tests there at the location or if th specimen has to be taken some where.

It depends what labs your doctor did. The more important question is how do you feel?? If they are routine labs, 2 weeks could be acceptable. If you are feeling really bad with specific complaints, 2 weeks is not acceptable.

That does seem a bit long , perhaps an assistant in the office will call with some information in the mean time till your visit with the doctor . That's how my doctors office operates . .

Yes it is depending on what tests he did and where the tests were sent to. Many specific tests are sent to labs out of state and take a while to process.

Depends what kind of tests, if the doctor is sincerely busy, why he made you wait. If they are urgent tests, the doctor should see you, or at least talk to you over the phone. If he hasn't even given your tests back than I would say it is unacceptable as even his secretary could give you those.
