Walking in someone elses shoes would be like blindfolding yourself for a day to walk in the shoes of a blind person. Or putting on a special suit to make you obese for a day then going out in public to see how people react to you differently.

Remember the show that someone did last year --- I think it was called Black-White.

Where White people were done up so they could live like black people and Vice-versa.

A book I read a long time ago was Black Like Me - same concept, don't remember the author.

Lifetime Movie - to be fat like me

How many times have you heard the saying "It's what's on the inside that counts"? Well, 17-year-old Aly figures everyone buys into that expression like she did — till she goes from skinny to fat overnight!

Pretty, popular and athletic Aly has been banking on a softball scholarship as her ticket to college. But when a sports injury blows out her knee, the teen enters a documentary film contest in hopes of using the prize money for her education. Convinced that her overweight younger brother and mother use their struggles with weight as an excuse for everything wrong in their lives, Aly decides to go undercover wearing a fat suit and hidden camera to prove personality can outshine physical appearance. But this high schooler has no idea how harsh the world can be through a "fat" girl's eyes. Kaley Cuoco of "8 Simple Rules" and Caroline Rhea of "The Biggest Loser" star in this shocking exposé inspired by actual events.

Look through the eyes of someone else.

Basic exercise (might jog an idea)- For the following 3 objects: iPod, dollar bill, marbles...

Now, imagine how each individual will see each object differently: Jewish man; Mother of a two-year-old; A six-year-old child

It's a very simple step to putting yourself in someone else's shoes. Although it seems silly, and you're probably thinking "O...k?", give it a try. I did it in junior high.

Putting yourself in someone else's shoes is almost a matter of philosophy. You look at events, objects, people from different prospectives rather than one set of eyes.

If it is an English exam, I would look at the book To Kill a Mocking Bird, one of the characters, Atticus, directly uses that expression and gives a very good example (even look at the sparknotes for it).

If you've never had acne, you would not know what a devastating experience this can be. Walking in someone else's shoes means, in this example, someone having had acne or having acne and therefore being able to understand another who does.

For me, this is pretty simple. My dad had a neuro-muscular disease. As a kid growing up, I couldn't quite understand why dad didnt play ball with us kids or do a lot of other things. Well to make this short, this neuro-muscular disease is genetic and so, I have it now and I've walked in his shoes and I know the answers to my questions I had growing up.
