Rape is a crime of power and the punishment should be chemical castration for life.

oh, it's just great. It should be perfectly legal. We should have big billboards encouraging it and have reality TV shows where the guy that manages to rape the most out-of-work starlets doesn't have to drink the big jug of pureed maggots.

Dumb question.

Seriously, ah gee. Rape is bad.

But it ain't the same crime every time, and a lot of the cases that are proscecuted don't involve crimes at all. In the cases where a guy abducts a woman in a parking lot, drags her off, rapes her, sodomizes and what not, and there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he did so, I have no problem with him getting life.

But as I may have mentioned before, most guys that do that crap kill them when they are finished. They obviously have no morals and have very little to gain by letting them go.

The vast majority of cases are more complicated - maybe or maybe not involving ex-boyfriends, drugs, booze, bad judgement and lousy memories, lies, vendettas, the whole schmeer, and I couldn't say what punishment - if any - was appropriate in those cases without at the least, knowing the details, and at best, attending the trial myself.

Like it or not, our system of justice fairly declares that it is prefereable to let 10 guilty people go free than to convict and imprison one that is innocent, and consequently a lot of those who are guility go free, but there are also a lot of men in jail that are guilty of no more than hanging around with the wrong sluts.

Howling about what a horrible crime it is and making blanket and moronic castration remarks (do people really want to go back to the days when mutilation was standard government punishment policy - if a woman abuses her kid, should we chop off her hands?), don't, won't, never will make this issue and how the courts should handle it any simpler.

It's just that it's a fact that it is often falsely claimed and difficult to prove when it's not. And unless you want to implant chips and hardware in everybody that woud record audio and video of their every move, all the time, and make it all admissible in court, things, unfortunately, are not likely to change much in this area.

Well, immediately after trial if found guilty the raper should be escorted to the end of a 2" x 6"

His Jewels should be fastened to the end of the 2" X 6".

Then, while still standing he should be stretched out (If you get my drift) towards the other end of the 2" x 6" and far as possible.

Then one with a Meat Tenderizer with a 3 Foot Handle using the waffle side, would pound the living crap out of the his
Ja-Knock.
Saving the Jewels for last. They should be made flat.
I think if this would be implemented as punishment there just might be a little less rape going on.
O, And the woman that falsely cries rape. there is another plan in the makin.

Notice Deirdre O's answer. " Rape is a crime of power and the punishment should be chemical castration for life ". This ill thought out dichotomy is why we proscribe rape; we do not have opinions on it. Punishments are set by legislative consensus; not the " mob rule " answers and the ideological responses that were given here. When we become a nation of opinion, not law, then truly we see our decline in sharp relief.

I am a male and I think that rape is abhorrent, disgusting and cannot imagine what the victim will go through for the rest of her life. I would think that a suitable punishment would be physical castration with a very blunt and rusty instrument then life and I do mean life imprisonment with a series of cell mates called "Bubba".

I was raped when I was 16. My virginity was stolen, so I have very strong feelings on the subject. I think the punishment should fit the crime. I am amazed how many people actually get off with only 3 months served of a 5 year sentence. I can't compute that. I think rapists are almost as bad as pedofiles. I think it should be one punishment, nationwide, it shouldn't matter what state you did the crime in, its still a crime.

I believe rape is a very serious crime, i believe rapist (Man or Women) should be punish severely. i also believe that America needs to educate women and men the effects in rape, that rape is a serious crime and should not be consider as a joke.

and for that 5.5 % of "victims" that lie should be punished as severely as a rapist.

Rape the person that committed the rape so they can feel the pain like their victims did.

Opinion...as in for or against? *puzzled look*

Rape is a crime...it's about power (not sex) but can leave lasting scars on the victim.

The punishment should fit the crime. They should be rendered powerless.
