Recognize that your friend is gay because that's the way he was made. He didn't choose to be gay anymore than you chose to be straight.
If you love him, be there for him. He's living in a world with a lot of ignorant people and will appreciate your love and support.

You just do. I had a roommate many years ago, who is a great guy, but he had a kind of cynical and bitter way about him. My other roommate and I both had girlfriends and I think he felt a bit isolated. As it turns out, there was a reason for that, which he would divulge well over a year after we all had moved in together. He felt it a rather big and somewhat risky step to take, but he did it nonetheless one night after more than a few beers. He said his big problem was that he's gay and he has to tell his parents (devout Irish catholic folks, yet wonderful people). Despite the beer flowing freely, the rest of the night was a bit awkward. Yet, as the days passed, his demeanor became a lot lighter. He had carried this heavy burden for so long, and the relief that came from his realizing that it didn't matter to his friends made me realize that this man, one of my closest friends, was a happier person. I was happy for him. He's still who he always was, and he's still my friend, although he moved away many years ago. He's happier than ever now, and I'm happier than ever for him.
The point is that your friend is still the same person he always was. Once you can get past the label, you'll see him as a bit happier, and if he's your friend, you'll be happier for him.
BTW, my friend's parents were very supportive of him. Granny will never know. She's still hoping the boy becomes a priest, but his folks are just as loving and supportive as they always were. Whattayaknow, a happy ending in real life. How often does that happen?

If you love your friend, who cares if he is gay? Now if you love him in the romantic sense, you'd best put those feelings out of your mind. If a guy's gay, you don't want to mess about in that. I've seen too many marriages fail because the guy turned out to be gay.

But as for accepting a friend who is gay, I believe it is a big, "who cares". It's none of my business what my friends do in their bedrooms nor do I want to make it my business. Just be a good friend because not everyone will do that and your friend needs all the truly good friends he can get. Being gay in some parts of the world can be difficult at best.

SImply that. Love him. Support him mostly. Thats the best you can do. You cannot change him nor get him to love you romantically if he is gay. Do you know if hes Bi though? Good luck

You accept him as you would anybody else you care about. Support him in his lifestyle choices and don't judge him. You need to understand that he needs to live his life in a way that makes him feel fulfilled and happy....
