I am a week late. I have so far taken 2 First Response's and both have been negative. I am REALLY stressed out. Who has taken first response and were they usually accurate?

My husband and I would buy stock in First Response, we trust the test so much! With the pregnancy before this one, I got a true positive four days before my period was due. We generally keep a supply of First Response tests on hand. I've had only true responses with these tests.

If you are a week late, no matter what test you are taking, you are probably getting a true result (there are some women who will not get a true positive until well into their pregnancy, it's possible that you are one of those). There are other possible causes for a delayed or missed period, and most of those need to be addressed by a doctor.

Good luck.

Pregnancy tests are very accurate. However, although you will almost never get a false positive, you can sometimes get a false negative, especially if you are very early in your pregnancy or if you miscalculated when your period is due. Most pregnancy tests can detect HgC levels as low as 50. Try testing in the morning when the HgC levels in your urine are most concentrated. If you continue to get negative test results, but your period does not start, the best way to know for sure is to get a blood test at the doctor. Good luck and I hope that you get the result that you are hoping for.

The FIRST RESPONSE® test is so sensitive that most pregnant women have enough of the pregnancy hormone, hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), to be detected as early as 4 days before their expected period. For example, if you expect your period on the 21st day of the month, you can test as early as the 17th day of the month. You can use the FIRST RESPONSE® Early Result Pregnancy Test any time of the day. You do not have to use the first morning urine. Generally, however, your first morning urine contains the highest level of the pregnancy hormone.

Q: How accurate is the test?
A: In studies of the FIRST RESPONSE® Pregnancy Test with urine samples representative of both pregnant and non-pregnant subjects, laboratory technicians obtained the correct expected result in more than 99%** of the samples, and consumers obtained the correct expected result in 98.4% of the samples.

* 99% accurate at detecting the pregnancy hormone. However, some pregnant women may not have detectable amounts of pregnancy hormone in their urine on the first day of the missed period or may have miscalculated the first day of their period.

I used about 6 of them with this pregnancy! LOL - the first one was negative - the next three were faint positives, the last two were definately positive. I took so many cause i was in denial! lol.

BUT even in saying that - stress can delay your period so maybe thats the reason?

I hope the result is what you desire.

Dont worry at all, you might have missed the cycle due some harmonal change in your body . these changes do happen of and on specially if you are
1) over stressed
2) over worked
3) emotionaly disturbed due to any reason.
I suggest if you take the test around a week or so later it would be benificial.
if there is a pregnancy please contact your gynecologist for advise. I am a doctor by profession so take my advice and take it easy for a while.

They are fairly accurate....but not as accurate as a blood test... Your period is probably not coming, because you are so stressed out........ you may have also conceived later in your cycle.....wait 5 days and try another test.....Anxiety and stress are common factors to an irregular period

If it is positive it usually is correct but a negative there is a possibility it is wrong. You need to wait a little longer. Good Luck I know the feeling!
