I mean, they can hardly move, they throw crooked little sharpened branches and the bows they made couldn't make the sharpest arrow in the universe penetrate a ripe peach! How'd they survive?

First off, they adapted by moving to the tree tops. As seen in ROTJ, all the Ewok huts are at the top of the trees and connected by long bridges. This prevents larger predators attacking them from the ground.

Secondly I believe Ewoks use "strength in numbers" to effectively hunt prey. One ewok trying to kill a larger beast is not as effective (or safe) as a whole hunting party.

Also, lets not forget the resourcefulness of our little furry friends. Remember when Chewbacca led the gang into the net trap? Such traps can trap larger prey (imagine capturing a wookie!).

Is this an assignment question cos I don't think it sounds like what most pet lovers would ask of their toads? I would say that the toad's 'external surface'-skin is used to protect it from predators.

There was supposed to be a Wookiie army, but it's easier to find a horde of little people and outfit them than to find a bunch of 7.5 foot tall Chewy types and put them in dog suits.

It's not survival of the cutest. It's survival of the CHEAPEST.
