WiMax is the term that is close to Wi-Fi meaning Wireless Internet broadband covering a large area and distance (about 2 to 3 miles). WiMax will revolutionize how people will receive internet in public outdoors and indoors and across cities and especially where cable or DSL internet cannot be installed in certain homes. This technology will be rolling out in major cities starting in 2008. Some people have already use voice communication on Wi-Fi to lower their monthly bills compared to using it on a cell phone network.

Cellular phone network is used only for voice communication and as you know the wireless internet on a cell phone network is especially slow about the speed of your dial up modem at home.
