On the 22nd of last month (a Friday), our water pressure was real low. We called the landlord and we all thought the screens in the faucets just needed to be cleaned, so thats what we did. But during the week after that, the washing machine took forever to fill with water and sometimes the water would kind of spurt out of the faucets when we turned them on. By Thursday we had absolutely no water. Come to find out, it was the pump in the artesian well. My husband, the landlord, and a few others replaced the pump by Saturday afternoon. We just got the electric bill for that month and it was $50.+/- higher than it normally is. We live in a duplex, and the neighbors bill was just as much higher (the pump is run off of her electric, and currently she is living alone - we are a family of 5).
Could the pump going over the period of week (maybe more) have anything to do with our electric bill being higher? I called the electric company, and they couldn't tell me anything.

Absolutely it could. It probably was the pump going bad that spiked your bill. What happens is the pump was overworking itself trying to do what it is designed for

Yes, a well can play havoc with the electric!! if it is water logged it will continuosly turn off and on until it burns the contacts! If the impellers break it will run continuos with no water pressure,, it it gets clogged it will have not pressure and run extra hard trying to pump the water , etc,, why two high bills?? they could have it wired that way,,, or something shorted out that connects both meters!! replacing the pump may have cured that but if it is something else, then you will need an electrician to trace the problem....

In answer to your question the answer is probably not. If the pump was run off her electric and Both of you had equally high Bills. It is probably the result of the meter being read. Most electric companies read the meters every other billing period and make a educated guess for the period in which they don't read. By and large the estimates are fairly accurate.

If the pump that went was on the other neighbors electric, how would that affect your bill? Of do you pay the neighbor according to their bill? In any case, if the pump was going and began to run continueously till it went finally, it could affect your bill. Un fortunately, figuring it out for sure, could be a problem. As it may or may not have affected the bill. Saying how much is the problem. If you are looking to have the landlord reimburse you for that is well, probably not going to happen, since, once they learned of the problem, they took care of it and therefore, would not be responsible, although, you could ask, I would say its one of those things that happens in life and move on. Good luck!

The cord not being appropriate put in is a marvel hazard or hearth hazard, yet isn't inflicting the bill to be greater. all of the failings that run reason the bill to be greater. properly pumps, entire homestead followers and intense wattage lighting fixtures are the vast issues to coach off in case you may.
