Is it normal for a newborn to scream like they're being tortured when we're simply trying to change his diaper? Everything looks fine, he just has a slightly red butt but no rash looking bumps or anything. And his circumsision is completly healed. Is this something that some babies just do or should I make a special call to our pediatrician for this???

That is completely normal. My babys always screamed when I would change their diapers and they were always fine.

Not all babies scream when their diapers are changed, but its not abnormal. Try to change his diaper in the same place every time (like a changing table) so that he learns to know what to expectwhen he's in that spot. Make sure the room temperature is warm and comfortable so its not too big a shock when the diaper comes off, and change it quickly to minimize screaming. Thankfully over time the number of diapers he wears each day will decrease.

My son screamed like crazy at every single diaper change until he was almost three month old. I dont know why, i tried making sure the room was warm, wipes ran under warm water, toys, noises, silly faces, nothing worked. I think he just wanted to be held. But he is fine now and smiles at most diaper changes. He will grow out of it.

This is not at all uncommon. Several babies do this. I think its the cold air paired with the wet wipes that gets them. Make sure the room temp is comfy. Maybe a wipe warmer will help. Try to play with him and make it a quick process. Good luck. Congrats on the new addition!

Just a thought you may want to talk to your doctor about is acid reflux,my son does this.Does your baby spit up or fuss when he eats?Arches his back when he eats or screams when you lay him down?My son does not spit up,he has what they call silent reflux. Its just a thought,or it may just be he doesnt like his butt being lifted up.Good luck.

Because he was tortured!!!
he probably has post-traumatic stress disorder from you letting someone skin his penis shortly after birth. Of course he doesn't like to be exposed down there. Everything looks just fine? Except his glans is exposed. That is supposed to be an internal organ.
Shame on you! Did you do ANY RESEARCH?

It's normal. It's just the cold air hitting him that's all. He'll get used to it. My 4 month old son hated taking baths when he was younger, now he hates to get out of the tub!
