Why does the media ignore Asian women when a overwhelming majority of men have a preference for Asian women?

Other then Lucy Liu and Kelly Hu there really isn't any Asian female celebrities. It doesn't make sense to me because the overwhelming majority of men have a preference for Asian women. Just look at myspace, theres millions of women on Myspace but an Asian woman(Tila Nguyen) gets the most traffic, millions of men visit her profile a day, much more then anyother women. Look at pornography, Asian porn now outsells every other genera of porn by a wide margin. Look at the huge numbers of men taking trips to Thailand to fulfill their fantasies of being with Asian women. Just look at the huge numbers of non-Asian men with Asian women, in fact where I live Asian women are the number 1 choice for men, so much so that there aren’t enough of them go around. Clearly there is a huge demand for more Asian female , So why haven’t we seen more?

Well, the standards of many Asian cultures for women to be subserivent to men, to not work outside of the home, and to focus on being good wives and mothers, unfortunately, speaks volumes to the reason behind the shortage of asian women celebs. In most of these countries, especially those that were/are communist, these women, and their societies, don't see themselves as individuals, but rather as a part of their family unit. So it would be hard for them to step into the spotlight. That's not to say that these societies and cultures aren't progressing. Asian cinema is booming like never before. Look at actresses like Ziyi Zhang, Gong Li, Aya Ueto, Devon Aoki, and Bai Ling. You'll notice that most of the celebs you referrenced in your question are Asian immigrants, who became celebs after growing up in America, where personal image plays a much bigger role in our society.

I'm Asian, and I had no idea that "an overwhelming majority of men have a preference for Asian women". I don't appear Asian to some, I've been mistaken as Italian and whatnot, heheh, but I had no idea. It's seen that Asian women respect themselves and are more sophisticated and classy. I'm a straight women, so I don't really know what I prefer in a woman but for me it's all about what the man is like, not his ethnicity (and my preferences don't limit to Asians only)....that's all I have to say, I can't really answer your question. I wish I'm not seen as just an Asian woman, but I am a woman!! :( But I want to mention it's not all Lucy Liu, there's also Gong Li (I've loved her as a child and still do) and Zhang Ziyi (she's 'new' in the film industry, but her first roles and movies like Hero made a huge impact on film) who have made it into American movies too.

Hollywood is stratified in a certain way that does not allow them the space. Though I do notice nearly every news program tries to have one Asian woman on the team to try to duplicate the sucess of Connie Chung.

Thats a really good point. There also aren't very many black or hispanic women in the media (and they are certainly very beautiful also). Unfortunatly, although minorities make up a fairly high perecentage of Americans...they are not fairly represented in the media.

Because our women get SUPER PISSED OFF when we point out that Asian women are 70000% hotter than our women. They don't want to see asian women when they turn on the TV and they especially don't want their men to realize that we got stuck with the sasquaches that blow up like hippos by age 25 when Asian girls look hot well into their late 30s!

In Asian media there are little to no celebrities of any other race other than... Asian.
