You can have it appraised at a coin shop, which is the most accurate, as it will take into account the condition of the coin, etc...
You could also pick up a cataloque at a book store. They usually have a rough estimate of what a coin is worth, but obviously it is based on the average coin and doesn't take itno account if your coin is in particularly good or bad condition.

I agree with Kiera that how much your coin is worth depends on the condition of the coin. And also depends on what denomination of Napoleon III French coin you have there. Is it a 2 centimes(deux), 5 centimes(cinq), 10 centimes(dix), or silver 20 and 50 centimes? You can visit your local library and look for Standard Catalog of World Coins 1801-1900 by Krause Publications. Or bring it to a coin dealer. Good luck.
