I don't want the cheesy kind. I want to write how I feel. I do poems and they are really good, but when it comes with songs I am terrible.

Write from experience. In your songs, talk about what u feel and situations that you have been through. Think of good background music to write your song to so you can set up a tempo. I've been trying to write rock songs for a while now and trust me, to write good lyrics, you NEED to write from the inside out.

well, i write raps and ill try to help you. you already write poems so thats a good start. there is really no good way to write songs. songs are poems with a beat. just try to write down how you feel inside or how you feel about whats happening in your life or the world. you can also start out with a beat or simple rhythm. hope that helps

start out writing poems because if you think about it most songs are poems so write poems and then u will get the hang of song writing, then all you will need is to drop a beat for the poem and you will have it, or try readin poems and relatin them 2 ur life and you will be ok with the song writing

A good way to write music is to write what u feel. Some of my best songs came from what I was feeling at the moment. And as long as it sounds good to u. Then who cares what others think. Good Luck

you could just turn one of your poems into a song some how.... i dont really know because i tried writing a song before and it was horrible. if you can express yourself in a poem you should be able to do the same with a song just add a tune to it.
