I found www.shop-teacher-gifts.com and have used this great web site before. But I need some thing a little more pricey, maybe 50.00 or more. She is a great teacher and desrives the recognition.

Maybe a gift card to a local bookshop, not quite personal, but I'm sure it will be used and appreciated. Also, a card telling how she is appreciated is always great and she probably will keep it for the rest of her career.

Um... why? Most teachers feel uncomfortable accepting pricey gifts from parents... it implies that you are expecting special favors for your child... in fact, in some school districts, it is against policy. If you think she deserves recognition for a good job, write a letter of appreciation to her and make sure a copy of it goes to her boss and to her school district. Give her public recognition for a job well done.... these letters are few and far between and will go into her Personnel File as a good point. She will appreciate that you took the time to tell her boss you think she is a great teacher.

May sound corny, however, our teachers are on such a budget. Send in stickers for the papers - great job, super! They love to put these on the kids papers. School supplies, schools are in need, pencils and erasers for everyone, games for the classroom for a rainy day. A gift certificate to a book store is also a great idea, the teachers that are the best, think of our kids. Something that she can share with the class, she will use with pride. Good luck!

can't go wrong with a gift card. Teachers love them. Starbucks, a good bookstore, movie theatre, Best Buy...or a combination. Be careful with spending too much, or buying a gift for anything but Holidays or end of the school year, because you don't want it to look inappropriate. Some schools have rules about gifting.

The other thing you can look into is orientaltradingcompany.com They have a section on teacher gifts. Perhaps thinking of more smaller items for the class room rather than one large gift. My Mother-in-Law is a teacher & the amount they provide out of pocket is really astronomical.

For yourself, tissues to wipe the end of your nose off. This may place the other children in a bad position. Not all children can afford that amount. Consider just a nice card with a hand written expression of how you feel. That will mean more to her than a materialistic gift. This will also respect the other students and parents.

As a former teacher, I would have felt VERY uncomfortable with such a gift.

Instead, write a note inside a blank card relaying your feelings and why.

Then, go to her superintendent and recommend she be recognized by whatever award system they have.

Where I worked, it was called the Kudos award and was usually a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Thanks for loving a teacher!!

I am a teacher and I can honestly say I would feel awkward recieving a 50 dollar gift from a parent or student. If the teacher is that good, and I'm sure she is if you say so, get her something personalized and one of a kind. You guessed it make her something. As a matter of fact, make her something with your child.

I would not have been happy with an expensive gift. Make me uncomfortable, for sure.

My favorite gift of all time was a coffee mug with "World's Greatest Teacher" on it.
