WiFi signal through floors/walls?

Unfortunately for me, I just bought the WiFi Max for my Wii. I'm pretty sure the connection set up because it seems to be that way on my computer. However, I can't get the Wii to find the receiver. Could it be because my computer is upstairs and the Wii is downstairs? I know it's definitely no more than 40 feet away because it's in the room directly above.

well, wi-fi adapters of any kind usually have a range of 30 or so feet from the device..

just make sure that the computer is less than 30 ft from the wii or put the wii in the same room as the computer..
