I am up to book 3 in the serieds and just watched the movie. It seems that everyone hates it!!! I thought it was fine up until they ending was really different. Wouldn't you love to see them do it again, properly this time? And with a bigger budget?

I read the books years ago and they were superb...had no idea they had made a movie of it. Generally though, once you have read the book you find that the film is never as good because you are always looking out for things that happened in the book, and get disappointed when it doesn't happen.

The movie was crap. But you have to remember it was made 20yrs ago! I think it was Daryl Hannah's 1st movie. I would love for the series to be made, just to see how they'd make some of the caves, and hunting the mammoth. But like Beck said the lack of dialouge that would be understandable would be hard on viewers. You could have captions for the grunts I suppose, but there would still be a lot of silnet parts in the movies. Maybe Jean, would reconsider, if someone gave her a script she could work with and advise on. Show her that the movie would be as repected as her books have been all these years. Like Peter Jackson did with LOTR!

Yeah that movie was terrible. I had read the books and really liked them, then saw the dvd for sale and bought it on a whim. Worst impulse buy ever! You know I just don't think you could make a good movie out of those books. The fact that there's no dialogue makes it hard to stay interested in the movie, and I think they'd hit the same stumbling block if they tried to remake it. It's ok in the books because their grunting/sign language is interpreted for you through Ayla, but I think that would be quite hard to translate over to film.

i rather watch the movie then read the books ( all of them). i meet jean auel and found her to be a bit full of herself. jean auel didn't like the original movie (was involved in legal issue with the studio) so i doubt will be graced with a remake. now before you asked why did i read her books if i didn't like them. like the story line hate the repetition of ayla's story in the other books.
