If you want to be a webmaster, this is your first lesson: Nothing on the internet is safe from theft. You can lock it down as hard as you want, but if its out there, it CAN be duplicated in many ways (even as simple as a screen snapshot) or printing to TIFF file which can be cropped in photoshop.

On images that you want to have a legal way of going after someone, make watermarks.

Flash SWFs can be reverse engineered. GIF animations (how tacky) can be reused. Even with a script that will stop the context menus, someone can still view the source HTML code using notepad.

Get used to the small things cause you cant stop it. The big things need protected from the lawyers. make sure all of your clients realize this if you are going out on your own. The internet is fair use and public domain.

Lesson 2: search for various contracts from webmasters on the net to get ideas of what you need to protect yourself...which is exactly what your question was regarding protection. See what I mean?

I agree with all the above. You just can't. Whatever's on your site is available to the casual viewer with View Source (oh sure, script material can be obfuscated, but still). And the graphical content is in the browser's cache, readily identifiable.

Here you go.

No one can be sure that people can't stealing things from your website. People can even press the print-screen button to get the image you don't want they to!
