I took an Equate brand pregnancy test. My control box was perfect, but my results circle left me confused. The vertical line was DARK, but the horizontal line was pretty faint.

Any ideas?

I'd jus go buy another one. Better to be safe.

The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

The Bottom Line
A great, inexpensive pregnancy test kit.

No messy mixing, just a cap to cover the absorbent tip.
Guide Review - Equate® Pregnancy Test
We set out to test five different pregnancy tests. This is the Walmart brand test kit. The separate control window from the test window was nice. We also got a positive at 60 seconds, with someone who was 5 weeks, 0 days pregnant.

This happened to me and it could be this, or you are testing too early! First, a chemical pregnancy, meaning you were pregnant long enough to get a faint line, but it did not take!!!! This is common! The only people that know this are the ones testing early! Everyone else assumes that their period came, so they were not pg! 2nd, is that you need to wait two more days and if everything is good, the lines should be bright!!!!! Good luck, I have had three boys, 2 miscarriages and two chemical pregnancies and trying for my fourth!!!! Hope all goes well for you!!

A faint line equals a positive unless it showed up after the time allowed, then it could be an evap line. If you are unsure, use a regular kind. I don't like the negative/positive sign ones, I like the "old" kind where you get one line or two. Best wishes!

I'd say 2 lines showed up. It doesn't matter how faint the second line is.
Call the 1-800 number on the instructions to be sure and ask them.

Take another one, is all I could suggest. Or make an appointment with your doctor and get a really good pregnancy test.

Good luck either way darlin' ♥

OH ALSO: Take your pregnancy tests first thing in the morning when you go to the bathroom for the first time. That's when the test is most accurate.

I've always been told a line is a line is a line. No matter how faint.

I'd assume it was positive, but take another in a few days to see if its a darker line.

it's positive. Repeat the test and make a Dr. appt. if it has a positive line. (even if it is faint)

Still means your pregnant whether its dark or light. If you take it again in a couple of days it will get darker.
