check and make sure your Netgear gets valid IP from (connected to) your cable/DSL modem. Cable modem usually works with DHCP while DSL modem requires login information (PPPoE).

If you use wireless make sure your wireless PC clients are allowed to connect and have correct settings (encryption settings, keys, etc)

Find the user guide and install it properly.

Make sure you can browse without the router first.

Call the Netgear tech support.
