Doctor counting goes like this: A pregnancy lasts 280 days, or 40 weeks. That's 10 "months" of 4 weeks...
BUT: The doctor counts from the date your last period STARTED. That's because it's the only day that can be nailed down exactly. (Unless you "only did it once..."; but even then, the egg may shown up have been a few days later.)
That means, if things are normal, 2 weeks or so went by before you became pregnant. (Fertile day is about day 14). So, Weeks 1-4 are first month, 5-8 are second month, 9-12 are thrid "month", 13-16 are fourth "month", etc. (Counting week 1 as 1st to 7th day, 2 as 8 to 14, etc...)
You're 3 months 2 weeks along if you are counting the way the doctors count, from your last period.
For weeks 37-40 you are "in your 9th month of pregnancy". So you don't really have to say "10 months" in all of this until you are overdue.
This is a lot easier than trying to count months by the calendar, and arguing over what to do about February's 28 days, etc.

You are in your fourth month (so technically you are 3 months pregnant and then a little). The fourth month is approximately 14-17 weeks, 5th month is 18-22 weeks, 6th is 23-27, and so on. Check out the book What to Expect When You're Expecting for a great guidline for your whole pregnancy. Also, you should look at babycenter.com. they will send you monthly emails about your baby's progress!

Since counting by weeks means pregnancy lasts 10 months (40/4=10), I usually figure how many months based on dates rather than weeks. Eg, If my last period started on October 10, I'd be 1 month on Nov 10, 2 months on Dec 10, etc.

If you want an an approximate answer then just take 14 and divide that by 4 which would be 3.5 months. If you want a more accurate answer than you take 14 and divide it by 4.33 which would be about 3.23 months since there are not an exact amount of days in each month-hope that heps to answer your question. Honestly so there is not so much confusion it is best just to go by weeks.

It is pretty confusing! You are 3 1/2 months. Most of the doctors go by weeks though. You go 40 weeks usually. if you go by months its really 10 months.
