Spain is doing nothing but posturing, they have no jurisdiction over US military personnel unless they are in their country, there is no need for President Bush to do anything because they will never gain custody of the troops involved. Our Military troops were in a combat zone and followed the rules of engagement, if Spain wants them let them attack the United States and come and get them, this is the most lame attempt to discredit our President i have ever seen!!

Spain is posturing politically. They know that those soldiers are innocent but want to score points with the anti-US crowd.

But the previous answers accusing those soldiers of murder when they have no idea exactly what happened (and what the soldiers POV was) is how the Democrats 'support the troops.'

This case can only be settled by an independent investigating body. The firing can be intentional or accidental. The soldiers are normally lectured and made aware about the "Rules of Engagement" in combat situations before firing on a target. This is to protect civilians who really are non-combatants from being deliberately fired upon. Also as a rule, foreign journalists are generally housed in hotels or buildings that are supposed to be free of insurgent elements. So any arms-fire originating from such structures is doubtful. However, it is unjust to imply that soldiers didn't follow the "Rules of Engagement". As I said, an independent investigating body is needed. And it is up for that body to determine the guilt or innocence of the soldiers involved.

I am far from a Bush supporter but this reads, to me, as just foreign, political publicity. I doubt anything will ever come of it. View it for what it is. Should anything really happen, I'm sure the US can apply ample diplomatic pressure. For example, the Republicans spent 10 times the money persecuting Clinton compared to the 9/11 Commission funding.

It's called Friendly Fire ( Which is not ) You go off and play newsman in a war zone, there is a chance of dieing.....that's it! Case Closed !

If he was killed by the Insurgents, would Spain try to arrest 5 guys named Obama? or Abdul?

Maybe he should have stayed at a Holiday Express in Madrid.

Remember how Spain reacted when they were attacked on the eve of an election? This sounds like the same kind of thinking: appease the Saracens and maybe they will leave you alone for a while.

Typical...Blame it on bush game junk.
Geez man, are you in love with the guy or something?
All you liberals are OBSESSED!!!
Oh, I dropped my ice cream cone...must be bush's fault.
Not everything is the man's fault!
THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE!!!
Bush supports the troops a heck of a lot more than your god clinton ever did.
Clinton gutted the dang military!
So, I would ask that you might look at this on a more adult and intelligent level as where you don't blame everything on him.

That's it!!!
I say we should nuke Spain immediately, and put about 200,000 troops on the ground after the radiation levels drop. Yep, it's time for W to put his money where his mouth is.

I wish you were working in the Pentagon so we didn't have to deal with this crap.

Why worry, it's not like them punks will actually go after them, and if they ever catch one, we can just threaten to blow up something and Spain will cave like they did to the islamic terrorists. El Cid is spinning in his grave over the cowards the Spanish have become.
