Yeah, I liked it. A good movie in the same vein is Dangerous Minds with Michelle Pfeiffer.

education and the flaws in the American public-school system, gets high marks -- for effort and for merit. So much could have gone wrong here. It's as formulaic as any of its predecessors -- "Stand and Deliver," "Lean on Me," "Dangerous Minds" and the granddaddy of them all, 1967's "To Sir, With Love" -- where a teacher placed in a classroom of "unteachables" must use unorthodox methods to get them in line and make them want to learn. But where a couple of those stories went astray, the highly inspiring "Freedom Writers" manages to maintain the integrity of its message.

Writer/director Richard LaGravenese, best known for his screenwriting ("The Fisher King," "The Bridges of Madison County," "The Horse Whisperer," "Beloved"), can take much of the credit. "Freedom Writers" is LaGravenese's first major feature film in almost a decade. His 1998 gem, "Living Out Loud," which starred Holly Hunter, Danny DeVito and Queen Latifah, proved he could direct a multifaceted cast, and he lives up to that potential here.

Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank leads a first-rate cast of veterans and unknowns in her role as the young, idealistic teacher Erin Gruwell, who on her first day at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, Calif., shows up sporting a crisp business suit, a string of pearls and the enthusiasm of a dozen cheerleaders. It takes less than a day to shock her into the reality that it's going to take a lot more than spirited determination to get through to kids who may only be freshmen but who've experienced a lot more of life than they should have at such a young age.

I loved it, I saw it today.
I loved it because it show how the some kids don't show respect the their teacher. Also it show how a teacher love for their student and don't want them to fail a grade,so they can have a great life by going to school and learn.

I really liked it. I thought it was the best teacher-helps-students movie that I've seen.
I liked that it really wasn't superficial in that the students didn't fawn over her the first day, week, or month.

OH HELL YEAH!!
I WAS SO INTO TO IT ITS NOT FUNNY. LIKE IT SHOWES YOU WHAT SOME PEOPLE GOT TO GO THROUGH AND NOT BY CHOICE, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE BORN INTO IT. AND THAT TEACHER IS A SUPER GREAT TEACHER. NEVER GAVE UP ON THEM AND BELIEVED. COME ON SHE GOT DIVORSE CAUSE OF THEM, THATS DEDICATION. AND YOU CAN TELL WHAT A DIFFERENCE SHE MADE, JUST BY SEEING THE ONE GIRL I DON'T KNOW HER NAME, BUT SHE IS THE ONE THAT "RATED" ON HER BOYFRIEND PACO AND WHEN AGAINST "HER OWN" THATS A CHANGE. LOVE THAT MOVIE 2 THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!
