The best graphics cards for gaming nowadays are awfully expensive- the Nvidia's new GeForce 8800 series.

Next best: the ATI Radeon X1950XTX and Geforce 7950GX2 - still very pricey.

The most bang for your buck will probably be a Geforce 7900GT for around $200, better performance and slightly less expensive than the ATI Radeon X1800 line.

Installation isn't hard, just make sure your computer's power supply can handle it - 350W or higher (preferably 400, since most high-end graphics cards are really power hungry)

By the way you can compare any cards you're thinking of buying at http://www.gpureview.com

Here's a comparison of two really nice cards-

try www.cnet.com for reviews and help. But the best out there at the moment is the ATI Radeon X1950 XTX, if money is no object. There not hard to install, just take the side panel of the tower off and it should slot into a free port at the bottom of the motherboard, think they come with an instillation CD as well, and most likely come with step by step instruction.

the two suck...however the ATi sucks much less. decrease than i've got given the link to Tom's Hardware's maximum contemporary pics enjoying cards heirarchy chart. to locate the 9100, scroll all the way all the way down to the backside, and then seem-up 6 ranks. The ATi card is 4 ranks bigger than that. As for gaming...neither. the two are organic "workplace" enjoying cards. For the forseeable destiny, continuously seem to the 2d quantity from the left interior the cardboard's designator (X#XX for ATi and X#X for nVidia). If the "#" is bigger than a 6, that's a gaming card. If it particularly is decrease than a 6, that's a organic workplace card. If it *is* a 6, you may acquire mediocre outcomes, yet a minimum of it particularly is going to (many times) artwork. solid success!
