I give it a few seconds of serious thought, then I apologize and admit that I don't remember them, or I ask their name, or whatever is appropriate. There is nothing to be embarrassed about for not remembering everyone. And I rarely forget a name or face. But it happens to everyone. No big deal.

This has happened to me before, more than once, and i simply say "I'm sorry but how do we know each other again?" I have no problem doing that. I know people who can't remember someone's name and instead of saying, "I'm sorry but I forgot your name". They go on acting as though they know the persons name. I never understood why people do thatl.

I hate playing dumb, I get right to the point and ask where they know me from.

Just look at them and say,"I know I should remember you but I just can't place you at the moment".Place your hand on their shoulder as you are speaking to them. That should get them to open up and tell you how they know you..Works for me.There's no shame in not remembering someone.

I get this all the time. I like to give them the "Are you stupid" look and say "And you are...?" It puts the other person on the spot so you BOTH can look stupid, not just you. The look is the most important part!!!! :)

your last sentence makes no sense but I think I get what your saying.. I usually say things like 'oh so hows life treating you and stuff,' to buy time before I click.

I'm either honest or dumb enough to just say "I don't remember you..the last ten years have been pretty foggy."

Stare at them until they ask me what's wrong and then I'll ask them. I do that all the time with my relatives and it works just fine
