Who else feels we need to do something about Global Warming? It seems like a bigger issue than we realize. I live in RI and so far there has been no snow this winter. Two years ago, we used every last one of our snows days and had to go to school into our summer vacation time. It has been EXTREMEMLY mild this winter and it's beginning to worry me. I got a new winter coat for Christmas and have only had to wear it twice so far! Does anyone know anything I can do to start to make a difference. Also, what kind of Earth friendly jobs are out there that you can get as a 15 -year old (going on 16)? Any insight is greatly valued!

i am always very happy to hear about someone being concerned about this. it is very important to think about these issues, but it is more important to do somthing about them, and to do the right things.

lets think this through. over the last 100 years, the average temperature in the world has gone up by 1 degree. do not be duped by one month of temperatures that are 30 degrees above normal. in california, temperatures have been way below normal, im freezing here, and crops are dying, because it has been so cold this month, so dont be duped by the weather for one month in one place.

over the last 100 years, the atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide have gone up from 0.031% to 0.037%(this is very well accepted fact), this a definite increase, and conventional wisdom says that this is causing horrible global warming. now think about this, if the ice caps are all melting, why is rhode island not under water. if the ice caps completely melted, the oceans would rise by 240 feet. look at 100 year old pictures of the beaches in rhode island, and you will see that they do not look any different today than they did 100 years ago. they actually are slightly different, sea level has risen by 5 inches over the last 100 years. common estimates state that we have burned 50% of all the oil that has existed in the world, ever, so the most we could burn would be as much as we have already burned (99% of which was during the last 100 years). so then ask yourself, how much effect could we really have on this.

now ask yourself this question: what would be the environmental impact of one nuclear bomb blowing up in manhattan. i believe that it would be much more catastrophic than all the global warming we are ever going to see. now ask yourself, what raises the chance of a nuclear bomb blowing up new york, washington, LA, etc. i think the biggest thing that does that is buying more oil from people that want to kill us and paying them trillions of dollars for that oil. the best thing you can do is to decrease use of oil, so that we buy less, decreasing the demand, and stopping the financing of countries that hate us, greedy oil companies, and contributing to global warming by using that fuel.

now ask yourself, what is the best way for the US to decrease the use of fossil fuels. everyone wants to conserve and all of that, but does that really do enough? the only thing that will decrease our use of these fuels is to raise the cost of using them. i propose that we raise the cost of these fuels by taxing them at a much higher rate than we currently do. it costs a lot to use these fuels in military, infrastructure, health, and other costs. we should stop using our income tax to subsidize the use of these fuels, and build the cost into the cost of things like gasoline, so raise the gas tax.

write to me if you want to discuss further

I think it's tragic that "Global Warming" Henny-Pennys have managed to inflict this kind of guilt feeling on a young person, who should be out enjoying mild winter days when we are lucky enough to get them.

Ask some of the people in Colorado, where they have had several severe blizzards this winter, what they think about so-called "global warming." Or people in southern California, where cold threatens the fruit crop.

All that has happened is that our usual winter cold was temporarily shifted west for a few weeks in early winter, for the benefit of Coloradans and Californians. It looks like that is all history now, and you can look forward to bone-chilling cold, missed school and perhaps make-up days this summer after all here in the east. The next time you get a nice winter day, smile, be happy, and enjoy it while you can!

If you wish to receive grant money for climate research, do you think that you'll get a cheque if you say," I need the grant, as I think that I can prove that the figures that the current paradigm is based upon are wrong" ? The great environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. There is still no proven causative link between the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere, and an increase in global temperatures. The WWWF photographs of the polar bears swimming were taken in the Arctic summer; when the ice cap partially melts, as they couldn't get up to photograph in the winter. The ice was too thick! The East-Anglian uni research figures. "Oh! The figures don't match our expectations. Oh well. Keep quiet. Because we know that we are right." When the belief, and the faith is more important than squarely facing the legitimate doubts of a lot of non grant-supported scientists, science has been superceded by religious zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully said." I pray thee, in the bowels of Christ, consider that thou mayest be wrong."

You are young, so don't realize that seasons are not exactly the same every year. Global warming is mostly the Earth going through its normal evolutionary swings. There was a time when the Earth was almost all covered in ice. There will come again, such a time...not soon, but in time. The Earth has its own time schedule.

This year, we're having sleet and ice storms, while you're having warmth...which we usually have in the winter (Southeast Texas). We've had seasons of extreme rainfall, and drought.

The weather is not predictable, nor is it caused by Global Warming. Cheer up! There's plenty of time for you to enjoy this beautiful Earth.

Global warming is false.
Evidence:
1) ice sheets throughout the world are not significantly melting and flooding nearby islands.
2) Temperature in past century has only gone up 0.5 degrees Celsius.
3) All who claim global warming is true say that humans cause itm by they actually don't. Only 3 % of all carbon dioxide in the air is caused by humans.

Remember, back in the 14th century, everyone on Earth believed the Earth was flat. Turns out they were wrong. So just because a majority of the people on this Earth believe global warming is true doesn't make it true, or even half true.
Global warming's a myth.

It's so crazy because there are so many factors causing global warming that the spectrum of eliminating global warming is so broad. One thing that you could do is plant trees. Since one factor that causes global warming is the excessive amounts of co2 the trees and plants take in the co2 and produce o2 (clean oxygen) consider trees our filter for clean air. Some possible career choices could be in the agricultural field planting trees. Another option for someone your age is fast food now if your interested there are plenty of fast food restaurants that comply with global warming regulations on their packaging i.e. Styrofoam being replaced with environment friendly alternatives. Working for a place that cares this much about the environment is a good place to start helping eliminate global warming.

I know! Everyone is like, "it's cold, how weird!" but they don't realize that in 10 years it'll be snowing in So Cal and half the word will be underwater.

If it wasn't for global warming, we would still be in an ice age.
