It seems like your computer may have a serious virus that is slowly damaging your HD, my suggestion for remedy (and both ways always work) is either use an F-DISK or Use your system recovery CD, you can make an F-DISK yourself, just go on the net and search for it, use it wipe out your whole HD and reinstall everything, after the process is done (can take several hours ranging from 1 hr to 30 hrs depending on system configuration and software and hardware settings) your computer should be running like new again. In this case DONT backup your HD because a piece of the virus might make it in the HD.

Hi Cassie,
I'm sorry that I'm not a Windows PC expert. I use a Macintosh. It sounds like your Dad's computer could be having some hard drive problems, but it sounds to me like it might be not enough RAM or possibly just a very slow processor. Is it a very old computer? Things start slowing down or freezing and forcing him to re-boot could also be a computer virus.
It would be best to ask your Dad to take it in to have someone look at it. But, if he's a computer expert, he might be mad about that.
Whether the computer has Internet access is easy to figure out because it should have either a phone cord connected to it or a an Ethernet cable attached to it, which looks like an even larger phone cord. Your Dad might have that computer as a hand-me-down for you, which was replaced by his in the office.
Best of luck to you, Cassie.

If computer will start from complete off mode and bring up windows hard drive it self is fine. Corrupt information is on it. When you add any program at all to your computer it creates a new folder and puts files in it it also adds a few files to the windows registery, this files tell windows how to communitcate with the new program. if u remove program and not these files windows still trys to access he program that is not missing. best thing to do in this case is turn on computer hold F10 (or whatever keys bring up your restore, sometimes ALT and F10) then restore computer to factory defaults, lose all saved files but u move on and save money

It really would be helpful for you to write your question in plain English so people who want to help can understand the problem. Disregard that comment if you really are still in third grade.
What parts are missing or damaged? Parts of McAfee or what??
Can you get onto the internet?
Give us a clue....

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
