I cant see, any real difference. True it is taking another turn in style and type of plot as it has done before. In the beginning it was more a program based average dis functional american family and then in later series as the characters developed more distinct personalities the basic theme changed , and now in the 18th season, the direction has changed again but its still still really goo

Yes they are getting worse. Each episode used to have a simple plot and then toss in the comedy. Now the plots have no real thought put into them, the humor has become very juvenile, and it just seems like the creators are running out of ideas.
In a sense the show is becoming watered down further every season.

If you were to ask me, I'd tell you that Simpsosns is getting betetr, they are getting more in tune with today's generation, I mean they've been in the business since I was a little baby boy, But they've changes all along the way.
There are more trendy guest stars, the gags seem to get better and better, It would be unwise to say that the Simpsons are going down.

Some of the stories just seem to have no center anymore. It is like Simpsons for Simpsons sake.

because, the characters are not how they used to be. For example bart, he used to be a worst troublemaker than he is in the new episodes + he's more loving to his parents. In the old shows he doesn't care about his parents much.

because the show has slowly turned from a chain of gags to a story. some people prefer the chain of gags. Like a sketch show.
