Is it possible to use a CAT6 Network Cable with a CAT5/5e Coupler? Will the connection still be good or will it drop significantly b/c of the mismatched cable and coupler? Also, is it a must to have the cable and the coupler gold-plated or can I do without? Thanks in advance!...

While both CAT6 cabling and CAT5/5e couplers are compatible and will work, the transmission performance will be that of the lower category. Gold-plated contacts are used for better transmission and less noise.

While you can do that, you should avoid using RJ-45 couplers if at all possible. The typical RJ-45 coupler has too much untwist for the Ethernet specification (.5 inch per connection) and can cause connection degredation as a result. In no case should you use more than one coupler in any single run.

the network coupler is just like a phone line coupler (it dun care whats going through it or at what speed), the speed will not be effected if you are using all CAT6 cable

Yes, the CAT 5 or 6 designation only refers to the capability fo the cable, not the pins - they are the same.

You can do that, and the connection will still be fairly good.
Couplers Cat 4 compliant and up, are always gold-plated. Cable isn't.
