It's "Semitic." With an "i"... root word is Semite... people of the Middle east area.
While not all Semitic peoples are Jewish, it's fairly understood that anti-Semitic statements usually refer to derogatory statements about Jewish people.

Good point, not all semetics are Jews, I dont know about the reverse of that.
I am clear that in the good ol USA anti-semetic means JEW HATER. I grew up Jewish.

A Semite is a guy or woman whose community language is between the Semitic languages -- Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, and diverse others. there has been such hatred and worry of Jews over the centuries that the be conscious got here for use purely for Jews. did you already know that Iranians are Persian, no longer Arabs? Why? simply by fact they do no longer talk a Semitic language. They talk Farsi. .

It is very poorly stated. Most Jews are not Semitic. And, Arabs are Semitic people, too. So, to use the anti-Semitic when referring to Jews is ridiculous.

Ashkenaz is from the line of Japheth. (Genesis 10) Abraham is from the line of Shem. (Genesis 11). They call themselves Ashkenazi Jews...go figure! I think they are the one that are anti-SHEMETIC (not anti-semetic)

Semitic means Arabs and Jews, not just Jews.
But over sensitive Jews and Israelis have hijacked the word.

Yeah, for the reasons you stated. I must confess that one of my cats was anti-Semitic as she was always pulling the "wandering Jew" plant out of its pot and trying to kill it.
