I am so tired of racism, it is unreal...racism against blacks, racism against whites. I am trying to raise my children to understand both sides of their heritage, but how can I when there is so much hate and pointing fingers on both sides? African Americans think that white people should suffer for what they did in the past, whites think that they need to shut up about it, blah blah blah. Why can we not just let the past go (as so many of us are told we need to do in our personal lives) and just try to make a better, more loving peaceful future for our children? Let go of the stereo types and be happy that we are now all free. White people, be greatful to africans for the sacrifices they endured all those years ago to build our country, and africans, be greatful it was a white man that set you free. This is just so stupid and childish, and it needs to stop.

First, as i have biracial children do not take this as an insult. A white man freed the slaves (your speaking of abe lincoln correct?) but he only did it because he had to. It was part of the compromise that they made to end the civil war. It was not the reason they went to war.

Second, no, people should not ever forget history, other wise it repeats itself. All children should know both sides of the history. Because it is ours together.

The only way that racism is ever going to go away, is when everyone starts changing. Teaching their children to change. 60 years ago, their wasn't many interracial relationships, now there are alot. we are getting there, but it won't happen overnite.

honey that will never happen I wish things would change, but its not this is the way it is meant to be where the white man thinks he knows everything and what's good for everybody who died and made them boss or head over everything just look at what the world is turning out to be a big mess and the great old white man is right in the front this is why the world is in a pickle now because of lies from the white man all of our young people are being killed over the lies of the great white man because they want to go and turn another country into what he/they want it to be.

i was brought up to love everybody. no one was any "better" than anyone else. i grew up in the north. when i moved to the south, as an adult, someone said some derogatory comment about me being white. does it make sense when i say, "i didnt even know i was white"? in my mind, every one is the same, i'd like to think i'm colorblind. we're all people with feelings. it was such a weird experience for a black person to call me "white" as if that had anything to do about my personality.

I totally agree, looking at it from the black side, I'm also sick of our racism against our own race and others. Great post!

good luck with the kiddies!
