breath in for 4 sec.
breath out for 4 sec.
do that 1 more time

It is very true. In stressful situations our body is primed to fight or run away. Either way, consciously controlling our breathing enables us to reduce the amounts of adrenaline coursing through our system. This takes the edge off the anxiety and enables us to concentrate on what is REALLY going on... not just our body's perception of events. Now if I could only get rid of this pneumonia, maybe I too could breathe easier!

Yeah, you are supposed to lie flat on your back, close your eyes and breathe as you focus on each part of your body individually and imagine the breathing is getting rid of the stress. Never worked for me, though.

Absolutely true.
Try yoga, or meditation. They are proven methods of relieving stress, and both focus on breath. Think about it in simple terms. Think of the way you breathe when you are angry or upset, as opposed to how you breathe when you are relaxing, such as before you fall asleep.

yes
take a deep breath in / mouth closed/ and them exhale slowly.
do this until you can feel your self breathe easier
it also makes your heart rate slow down if breathing too much/ hard

Yes it is. But you have to take slow deep breathes, not fast ones.

Doesn't help me much when stressed out! It just gives you something to do til the feeling passes.

yes- invision goldish, sparkly energy coming into your body, and the yucky, negative grey energy leaving it. it's very good for stress.
